Russian Presidential Spokesperson Dmitry Peskov announced that no change in London's policy towards Moscow is expected following British Prime Minister Keir Starmer's departure from office.
At a press conference, Peskov said Starmer had not taken any significant steps in bilateral relations and was in favor of keeping relations at a 'zero level'.
No different approach seen in British politics
"There are many questions like maybe it will be better after him. But at the moment, it is unlikely that there will be someone on Britain's political horizon who will have a different position on our bilateral relations than Keir Starmer," he said.
The Kremlin representative emphasized that the British prime minister had in no way proven himself in terms of Russia-UK ties.
Other agenda items
Peskov announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin and Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko will be in contact soon, and the statements of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy regarding Minsk could also be discussed in this meeting.
He described Zelenskyy's statements about military equipment on Belarusian territory as 'completely aggressive threats' and interference in the internal affairs of another country.
On another topic, the sale of Gazprom's stake in Serbia's NIS oil company, Peskov noted that there are contacts between Moscow and Belgrade on this issue, but these are commercial negotiations that should not be public.
In response to questions about fuel shortages in Crimea, Peskov reported that intensive work is underway to ensure the population's supply of fuel.
