Russia accused the Ukrainian administration of actions threatening world energy security. Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that Kiev is displaying a continuous aggression and terrorist tendency against international energy systems, and they find this situation extremely dangerous.
In a statement to journalists, Peskov said, "We believe that the Kiev regime is showing a tendency of continuous aggression and terrorist acts against critical international energy system facilities, and we find this extremely dangerous."
The Kremlin official noted that the Russian side has repeatedly warned its Turkish counterparts about Kiev's dangerous activities and attack attempts on the Blue Stream and TurkStream gas pipelines. Emphasizing that Russia is taking measures to reduce the risk from these attacks, Peskov also assessed the drone attacks on tankers as part of these terrorist activities.
Russian energy giant Gazprom had previously reported an attack on the Krasnodarskaya compressor station, which is part of the gas supply chain on the Blue Stream line.
Peskov also touched upon Lithuania's decision to initiate the procedure for deploying nuclear weapons. "Contrary to the expectations of countries that take such a decision, this will not contribute to their security," Peskov said, adding that a similar decision had been taken in Finland and that the Baltic countries might also take steps in this direction.
