As Bayern Munich continue to lead the Bundesliga, head coach Vincent Kompany’s health has become a concern. Kompany collapsed and was hospitalized while watching the club’s reserve team train on Friday.
The 40-year-old Belgian manager will undergo comprehensive medical examinations and remain under observation during his treatment. No timetable has been announced for Kompany’s return to work.
Bayern leave duties to technical staff
In Kompany’s absence, the technical staff are expected to oversee training sessions and matches until further notice. Bayern Munich’s next fixture is away against Freiburg on Sunday.

Bayern Munich sporting director Max Eberl said the club’s priority was Kompany’s health. Eberl said the coach would be given the medical support and time necessary to recover.
He had also been unable to work before the Arsenal match
Kompany recently suffered a viral infection, causing him to miss some training sessions and the press conference before the Arsenal match. The coach returned to the dugout for Bayern’s 2-2 draw with Arsenal.
Kompany had acknowledged that he ignored the warnings his body was giving him during his illness. The cause of Friday’s collapse and when the coach will return to his duties have not been announced.
