Kamchatka Governor Vladimir Solodov announced a one-time payment of 100,000 rubles for students graduating with honors from targeted education programs at regional universities and colleges.
In a statement on his channel on the Max platform, the governor said: "I have decided to support those who graduate with a red diploma through targeted education from universities and colleges. Now, those who show outstanding achievement will receive a one-time payment of 100,000 rubles."
This support measure takes effect this summer, and 2026 graduates will be eligible for the payment. The practice was reportedly shaped by a request from a mother who contacted the governor during a personal meeting. She said her daughter, who graduated with honors in veterinary medicine, was preparing to work in the region, and asked for the governor's support. Solodov evaluated the idea the same day and started preparations.
Governor Solodov remarked, "Students who show outstanding success from the very first years and sincerely wish to develop Kamchatka are the future of the region; we must support them at the start of their careers."
The targeted education model implemented in Kamchatka was put into effect within the framework of the first law in this area in Russia. Developed by State Duma Deputy Speaker Irina Yarovaya, the law allows local businesses to train specialists according to their own needs, while enabling young people to secure guaranteed jobs and financial support.
