An economic connectivity message from Vladivostok
Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto said the Pacific Ocean should create an economic link between Russia and Indonesia at the plenary session of the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok.
Subianto said Russia’s Far East and Indonesia span vast geographic areas. The president said travel between different regions of the two countries can take hours and that the capitals may seem distant to people living near the countries’ borders.
However, the Indonesian president described Vladivostok as a city close to him and his home.
The Pacific as a route that connects rather than divides
Subianto noted that the coasts of Russia and Indonesia are both bordered by the Pacific Ocean and stressed that the ocean is not a wall between the two countries.
Subianto said the Pacific should become the main route connecting the Russian and Indonesian economies.
The Eastern Economic Forum is being held in Vladivostok from September 1 to 4.
