Türkiye's President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan called President Ilham Aliyev to congratulate him on the 35th anniversary of Azerbaijan regaining its state independence. During the talks on October 21, the two leaders discussed bilateral relations as well as regional and global developments.
During the call, Erdoğan invited Aliyev to the 13th summit of the Organization of Turkic States, which will be held in Ankara. The Turkish leader reaffirmed his determination to advance the cooperation between the two countries, founded on their fraternal ties, to a higher level.

Aliyev: Our fraternal ties will continue to develop
Aliyev thanked Erdoğan for his congratulations and the call, saying that he believed the fraternal ties between Azerbaijan and Türkiye would continue to develop successfully in the future.
Azerbaijan declared that it had regained its state independence on October 18, 1991, during the dissolution of the Soviet Union, while Türkiye became the first country to recognize Azerbaijan's independence. In addition to Türkiye and Azerbaijan, the members of the Organization of Turkic States include Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.
