Belgium’s third heatwave of the year is continuing, while August 14 became the country’s hottest day of 2026. Temperatures in Uccle, a district of the capital Brussels, reached 35.7°C.
This surpassed the 2026 temperature record of 35.5°C, recorded on June 26. The previous daily temperature record for August 14 was 31.9°C, measured in 2022.
Temperatures in central Brussels were measured at 42°C. An orange alert is in effect across much of Belgium due to the extreme heat.
Temperatures are expected to gradually fall from the weekend.
