A security alert in Russia led to the evacuation of four district courts in St. Petersburg and a university in Moscow on Friday, September 25, 2026.
The Kirovsky, Kalininsky, Oktyabrsky and Smolninsky District Courts were evacuated after receiving bomb threats. On the same day, staff and students at Moscow Technical University of Communications and Informatics were also removed from the building following a similar threat.
The university's press service announced that law enforcement authorities were investigating the threats. The institution later reopened, while some classes were moved online.
Several Moscow universities evacuated the previous day
Similar evacuations took place at more than a dozen universities in Moscow on September 24. The institutions included Moscow State University of Service and Transport, Moscow State University of Psychology and Education, Moscow Polytechnic University and the Mendeleyev University of Chemical Technology of Russia.
It remains unclear who was behind the bomb threats. In recent years, Russia has seen an increase in attacks and sabotage operations attributed to Ukraine.
