Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry summoned Russia's Ambassador to Baku, Mikhail Yevdokimov, to the ministry.
According to a statement from the ministry, during the meeting, a "resolute protest" was expressed over the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attack on a SOCAR fuel station in Ukraine's Mykolaiv region on the evening of July 5, and a corresponding note was handed to the Russian side.
"During the meeting, it was noted that the UAV attack in question was not the first. Previously, other SOCAR facilities on Ukrainian territory, including a gas distribution compressor station and a fuel depot in Odesa, had been subjected to military attacks with destructive consequences. These incidents resulted in significant material damage and injuries among company employees. It was emphasized that the continuation of such incidents despite repeated warnings indicated they were being carried out deliberately. "
The statement also drew attention to the fact that the buildings of the Azerbaijani Embassy in Kyiv and the Honorary Consulate in Kharkiv had also been damaged as a result of airstrikes.
"It was stated that obligations regarding the protection of diplomatic and consular mission buildings under the Vienna Conventions must be strictly adhered to. "
Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry demanded that Russia conduct a comprehensive investigation into all these incidents, provide the necessary explanations regarding the events, and comply with international obligations concerning the protection of civilian facilities and diplomatic missions.
