The 243-meter Russian-flagged tanker began drifting off Marmara Island after an engine failure. The vessel was carrying 96,544 tons of crude oil.
Following a request for assistance received by the Çanakkale Vessel Traffic Services Center, the emergency response vessel Nene Hatun and the Kurtarma-16 tugboat were dispatched to the area.

The tanker, which was drifting toward the Tekirdag coast, was towed to a safe area by the teams.
The Coast Safety teams later took the vessel to the anchorage area in Tekirdag. The tanker was anchored there.
