Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced they will continue long-range strikes on targets inside Russia during the autumn period and increase sanctions in order to force Moscow to make peace. Zelensky expressed these goals in his speech at the 2026 Ukraine Ambassadors Conference held in Kyiv.
The Ukrainian leader accused Russian President Vladimir Putin of intending to prolong the war. He said, "Putin is preparing for new mobilization and new attacks. We see Russia's true intentions. We are working to unite our allies and put pressure on the aggressor."
Russia launched a military attack on Ukraine on February 24, 2022. Moscow demands that Kyiv give up its goal of joining Western military alliances as a condition for ending the war. Ukraine considers this demand interference in its internal affairs.
