Hero of Russia Evgeniy Poddubny announced he will run for the State Duma elections from the United Russia party. Poddubny said he made this decision based on the belief that the party's resources and opportunities would help make the country stronger.
Speaking on Vladimir Solovyov's "Vesti" program, Poddubny said, "This is an opportunity for me, because the ruling party is the president's party. This party, founded by Vladimir Vladimirovich (Putin), has resources and opportunities that currently need to be used to become stronger."
Stressing that United Russia adapts its public program to changing conditions, Poddubny noted that the program includes important items such as support for special military operation veterans and their families, reintegration of those fighting on the front into civilian life, and educational programs.
Poddubny noted that more than 70 participants of the special military operation from United Russia are entering the Duma elections, saying this is a guarantee that "it was not all for nothing." He also emphasized that more than 160 laws adopted through the party's initiative directly affect the lives of veterans and their families, adding, "This work must continue."
Russian President Vladimir Putin had set the ninth-term State Duma elections for September 20, 2026. Voting will take place over three days from September 18 to 20.
