Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reported that Russia attacked Ukraine with approximately 1,600 attack drones, 1,100 guided bombs, and three missiles in the past week. In a statement on Telegram, Zelensky stated that Russia is conducting intense attacks to overcome air defense systems and that daily missile supply is critically important. He also emphasized the importance of continuing current sanctions, warning that easing sanctions could increase Russia's war budget.
Zelensky announced that seven people were injured and two lost their lives in a drone attack on a city bus in the Kherson region. He stressed that the injured are under treatment and that the attack was entirely aimed at civilians. Additionally, he reported a drone attack on a residential building in Kharkiv, attacks on energy infrastructure in the Mykolaiv region, and that the Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa, Sumy, Kherson, and Donetsk regions were also targeted.
Since the evening of May 1, the Ukrainian Air Defense Forces have neutralized 142 out of 163 drones used by Russia. Zelensky thanked those working on new sanction packages and emphasized the importance of combating Russia's attempts to bypass sanctions.
