Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy announced that Ukrainian forces struck the port oil infrastructure near the Russian city of St. Petersburg and Kronstadt.
In a statement on his Telegram channel, Zelenskiy said, "Tonight, our long-range sanctions imposed because of this war against Russia worked near Petersburg. The Ukrainian Defense Forces struck the port oil infrastructure that funds the Russian war, and there were also hits on Kronstadt, an important military target. The distance from the Ukrainian state border is more than 850 kilometers."
St. Petersburg Governor Aleksandr Beglov had earlier reported a "large-scale" drone attack on the city. Beglov stated that the attack hit the grounds of an oil terminal in the city's Kirovskiy district. The governor said, "The technological consequences have been eliminated. There are no casualties. Air defense systems shot down 72 UAVs, one of which fell on Petergof. There are no casualties or destruction."
