Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy raised new casualty claims regarding Russia’s military operation in Ukraine. In a statement on social media, Zelenskiy alleged that 6 people were killed in an attack by the Russian army in the Kiev region.
The Ukrainian leader claimed that 5 civilians lost their lives in a guided bomb attack on the city of Sloviansk in the Donetsk region. He said that homes, a consulate building, and vehicles were damaged in these attacks.
Zelenskiy condemned Russia, saying, “These were brutal attacks on civilians and the Russians must be held accountable.” The Ukrainian president claimed that Russia has long lost respect for international norms and human values, adding, “All they care about is continuing the massacre.”
Zelenskiy stressed that it is important that his Western partners understand that protecting lives also depends on them. The Ukrainian leader also reiterated that interceptor missiles for Patriot air defense systems are their number one priority.
