A new payment of €3.3 billion was made under the European Union's loan package for Ukraine. Ukrainian Prime Minister Serhii Koretskyi announced that the tranche, equivalent to $3.78 billion, had been transferred to his country.
Koretskyi said in a statement on Friday that the payment was made under the Ukraine Support Loan. The funds are planned for the country's priority defense needs, including the procurement of missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles.
The Ukrainian prime minister thanked the European Commission and all European Union member states for the support they have provided to Ukraine and their contribution to strengthening the country's military capacity.
Ukraine receives approximately €15 billion this year
According to the European Union delegation's statement on the payment, the €3.3 billion was the fourth payment under the defense window of the Ukraine Support Loan. The total support provided to Ukraine this year has consequently risen to approximately €15 billion.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen also said that Europe would continue to provide the support needed to defend the people and territory of Ukraine.
Loan package covers 2026-2027
The Ukraine Support Loan, adopted by the European Council last December, is defined as a €90 billion loan covering the 2026-2027 period and carrying limited recourse.
The package allocates €30 billion for budget support and €60 billion for defense procurement.
