The Kyiv-Warsaw train carrying former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and senior security advisers from several European countries was targeted by a Russian drone attack in western Ukraine.
Alongside Johnson, the train was carrying the senior security adviser to German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, as well as security officials from the United Kingdom, France and Italy.
The train was stopped at around 5 a.m., approximately 2 kilometers from the Polish border, because of attacks in the area. Passengers and railway workers were evacuated for safety reasons.

After the evacuation was completed, a drone identified as belonging to Russia struck the train's locomotive. The passengers were not on board during the attack, preventing possible loss of life.
Johnson and the European officials traveling with him were en route to Warsaw after attending the YES international security conference in Kyiv.
