Ukraine launched drone attacks for two consecutive days on the Lukoilpermnaftoorgsintez refinery located in Russia's Perm Krai region, which is an important part of the country's main oil pipeline network. According to a statement by the Security Service (SBU), the operations carried out on April 29 and 30 targeted the AVT-4 unit of the refinery. This unit plays a critical role in the primary oil processing procedure. As a result of the attacks, fires broke out in the vacuum and atmospheric rectification columns, rendering the unit unusable. Fires were reported in tanks, each capable of storing approximately 50,000 cubic meters of oil. The Perm station holds strategic importance as part of the infrastructure network managing a significant portion of Russia's oil flow. Ukraine's attacks aim to disrupt Russia's military fuel supply and weaken one of the Kremlin's sources of war revenue. The attacks are considered part of increasing operations targeting energy infrastructure in the context of the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
