China's Foreign Ministry emphasized in a national report that the transfer of weapons-grade uranium for nuclear submarine construction under the AUKUS partnership between Australia, the United Kingdom, and the US constitutes a serious violation of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). The ministry stated that this cooperation threatens regional peace and stability and increases the risk of nuclear proliferation.
Similar cooperation between Washington and Seoul was also criticized. China also condemned Japan's efforts to change its nuclear weapons policies and called on the international community to be vigilant against Japan's calls for the deployment of nuclear weapons.
The report also reiterated the demand for international oversight regarding Japan's discharge of radioactive water from the Fukushima nuclear plant.
