Ukraine has asked NATO for equipment support to continue humanitarian demining operations across the country. Ukraine’s State Emergency Service submitted the request to NATO’s Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Centre.
The application noted that widespread contamination with explosive materials poses a threat to the civilian population and critical infrastructure. It said specialized equipment was urgently needed for this reason.

Equipment requested from NATO
- Metal detectors to support underwater mine-clearance operations
- An autonomous underwater vehicle called “Tethys One” for inspection, searching and monitoring
- Robotic systems for detecting and remotely neutralizing explosive materials
- Underwater video cameras
- Communications equipment
Ukraine plans to use the autonomous underwater vehicle for inspection, search and monitoring activities in challenging underwater environments.
Ukraine’s State Emergency Service identified clearing the country’s territory of mines and carrying out humanitarian demining operations as strategic government priorities. The application said these activities are important for Ukraine’s reconstruction, strengthening its security and defense capabilities, and ensuring the safety of its citizens.
Previous application dated October 24, 2025
Ukraine also requested support on October 24, 2025, to increase its humanitarian aid capacity. The previous application included various forms of assistance, including supplies of water, food and fuel.
