Turkish schools to hold midterm break from Nov. 16 to 20
The first school break of the academic year at Türkiye’s state schools will run from Nov. 16 to 20. Including weekends, students will have nine days off, with classes resuming on Nov. 23.
Türkiye’s Ministry of National Education (MEB) has approved the calendar for the 2026–2027 academic year. Under the calendar, the first midterm break at schools will run from Monday, Nov. 16, through Friday, Nov. 20.
The last school day before the break will be Friday, Nov. 13. Including weekends, students will have nine days off, with classes resuming on Monday, Nov. 23.
The break applies to students at primary, secondary and high schools. This information will be useful for Russian-speaking families in Türkiye whose children attend Turkish state schools. Schedules at private and international schools may differ, so families should check with their school administration.
The first semester will end on Jan. 22, 2027. The winter break will run from Jan. 25 to Feb. 5, and the second semester will begin on Feb. 8.
The second midterm break will take place from March 8 to 12, 2027, coinciding with the Ramadan Bayram holiday. The academic year will end on June 25, 2027.
