U.S. President Donald Trump called on Ukraine to end military attacks targeting diesel fuel refineries in Russia.
Speaking to reporters, Trump said Volodymyr Zelenskyy should not target diesel fuel production in Russia. Trump said Ukraine could target other sites and argued that attacks on refineries were negatively affecting global diesel supplies.
Trump said disruptions in the diesel market were not caused by tensions in the Middle East but resulted from the war between Russia and Ukraine.
Trump said Washington had discussed the issue directly with the Ukrainian leader and that U.S. officials did not want Kyiv to target the refineries. He argued that destroying Russia's diesel production capacity would harm the world.
Ukrainian officials did not immediately respond to Trump's remarks.
