SpaceX successfully placed 20 Starlink V3 satellites into orbit during the 13th test flight of its Starship rocket. The company announced on X that the launch took place from its Starbase facility in Texas, and the rocket performed a soft landing in the Indian Ocean.
This successful flight comes after a series of failures for Starship. The rocket broke apart during its 7th test flight on January 16, 2025, its 8th on March 7, 2025, and its 9th on May 28, 2025. The 10th flight was postponed due to cloudy weather and then completed successfully, and the 11th flight on October 13, 2025 also went smoothly.
During the previous test flight, the 12th, the rocket launched without issues, but engine failures occurred during the cruise phase. The rocket, which was descending toward a landing site in the Indian Ocean, unexpectedly caught fire.
