Russia's Interior Ministry warned citizens against a new form of financial fraud. The ministry's Department for Combating the Illegal Use of Information and Communication Technologies reported that scammers are operating under the guise of Central Bank experts.
In the department's statement, it said, 'If a "Central Bank expert" asks you to pick up a package and declare someone else's money, they are scammers and you become an accomplice.'
It was noted that criminals often pose as special service employees, law enforcement officers, or financial institution officials and use innocent citizens as couriers. The statement urged citizens to be cautious, saying, 'Government agencies never offer external jobs to citizens and never ask for help in covert operations.'
