Bureau 1440, the company developing Russia's domestic satellite internet system, took a significant step in its project by sending a second batch of satellites into space.
According to a statement from the company's Telegram channel, the launch on July 19 was successful. After separating from the rocket, the satellites established communication with the Bureau 1440 Flight Control Center.
After control and commissioning processes, these satellites will move to their target orbits to provide communication services.
Bureau 1440 had launched the first batch of 16 satellites at the end of March. According to press reports in June, one of these satellites was later lost.
The company is developing a domestic satellite constellation for high-speed data transmission with global coverage. Commercial broadband satellite data service is planned to begin in 2027, with initial customer tests scheduled for 2026.
To provide 24/7 global communication services, a total of more than 250 satellites are targeted to be placed in orbit. The satellites are developed and manufactured at Bureau 1440's own facilities. The company employs more than 3,000 engineers and production staff.
