Russia's long-range air operations targeting Ukraine prompted Poland to step up its air security measures. Poland activated its military aircraft on Thursday morning and placed ground-based air defense systems and radar reconnaissance units on high alert.
The Polish Army said the necessary forces and resources had been activated through the Air Operations Center of the Armed Forces Operational Command and the Air Component Command.
The army said the measures were preventive and aimed at ensuring the security of the airspace. Particular attention was given to protecting areas neighboring regions under threat.
The Polish Army said it continued to monitor the situation and that its forces and resources were being kept ready to respond immediately if necessary.
