Iranian President Pezeshkian outlined his country's approach to the possibility of war and negotiations with the United States at a meeting with women and experts in Tehran.
Speaking at the meeting titled “Women of Today, Iran of Tomorrow,” Pezeshkian said Iran was defending its territorial integrity against attacks. He said they did not view war as a goal and stated that his country would proceed step by step in the negotiation process, guided by wisdom, dignity and its interests.
Pezeshkian listed the goals of this approach as ending the war, lifting the siege and releasing blocked resources. The Iranian president said they wanted to move on to nuclear talks after these steps.
Emphasizing that negotiations with the United States did not mean surrender, Pezeshkian cited China as an example in terms of economic competition. He said some countries had proven themselves through economic competition and stressed the importance of protecting the homeland, serving the people and maintaining a sense of national belonging in the face of foreigners.
Pezeshkian also said he appreciated the support shown by the people during difficult times.
