Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha and South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun assessed the security implications of military cooperation between Russia and North Korea in Europe and the Indo-Pacific during a phone call.
Sybiha told Cho Hyun that Russia’s missile and drone attacks on Ukraine were continuing.
The Ukrainian foreign minister said the deepening of Russia–North Korea military cooperation had directly linked security issues in Europe and the Indo-Pacific. Sybiha also argued that North Korea’s direct involvement in the war had made this connection more visible.
Sybiha said the international response to the emerging threats needed to be more coordinated and called for stronger cooperation between Ukraine and South Korea in addressing shared security challenges.
The two sides also discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations and work more closely on common security challenges.
Sybiha thanked South Korea for its support for Ukraine. Saying that Kyiv placed great value on Seoul’s support, Sybiha expressed hope that shared security interests would be translated into more active practical cooperation.
