Russian wrestler Darya Maslennikova secured third place at the Under-17 World Wrestling Championships in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. Maslennikova stepped onto the mat in the 43 kg weight class and claimed the bronze medal.
The championship marks the return of Russian and Belarusian athletes to the international stage. The United World Wrestling (UWW) announced in May that athletes from these two countries could compete in all age categories without any restrictions.
Russian and Belarusian wrestlers had been banned from international tournaments after the war in Ukraine began in 2022. The world championships in Baku will conclude on August 2.
