The Russian Supreme Court rejected an appeal by actress Yana Troyanova, who is designated a foreign agent, against her status. The court declined to take up the appeal for a hearing.
Troyanova's representative had petitioned the Supreme Court to reconsider the challenge to her foreign agent designation. The court, however, did not permit the prosecutor's request or the complaint to proceed to trial. No reason was given for the rejection.
The actress was previously sentenced in absentia to eight years in prison by the Second Western District Military Court in November 2025. The court convicted Troyanova of failing to comply with foreign agent obligations and inciting terrorism. She was also banned from administering internet sites for four years and fined 250,000 rubles.

The appeal against the foreign agent status had earlier been taken to an appellate court, but was also rejected there. An application was then made to the Supreme Court. Troyanova claimed during the appeal process that she had never received foreign support or been under external influence.
Troyanova also appealed a 50,000 ruble administrative fine imposed for failing to submit a report on her activities this spring, but the Moscow City Court upheld the fine as lawful.
The actress was added to the foreign agents list by the Russian Ministry of Justice in November 2023, and was also included on the list of terrorists and extremists.
