Alexander Volodin, an expert from the Institute of Child Development, Health, and Adaptation under Russia's Ministry of Education, has issued recommendations regarding reading lists provided for the summer vacation.
In a statement to RIA Novosti, Volodin said that first-grade elementary school students should not read books for more than one hour per day during the summer break.
For students in higher grades, he recommended that this duration should not exceed three and a half hours per day.
The expert stated that taking short physical exercise breaks of 1-3 minutes during reading sessions would be beneficial.
Volodin also reminded that the reading lists schools provide for the summer vacation are advisory in nature and are typically tailored to individual needs.
