Russia continues to strengthen domestic production in the pharmaceutical sector as part of its strategy to reduce foreign dependency. Russian Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Yekaterina Priejjeva outlined these plans in a speech at the Innoprom-2026 International Industrial Fair in Yekaterinburg.
Priejjeva stated that under the "New Health Saving Technologies" national project, domestic production of drugs never before manufactured in Russia will be systematically increased. The deputy minister said, "We need to increase this share every year, and we expect a planned increase in such drugs."
The Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade had reported in a statement at the end of June that domestic production of drugs used in the treatment of hepatitis, HIV infection, and diabetes has increased since the beginning of the year.
The Innoprom-2026 fair is taking place in Yekaterinburg from July 6 to 9. Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, and Belarus are participating with national exhibitions.
