Russia said military targets were struck at several ports and logistics sites on Ukraine’s Black Sea coast.
According to Russia’s statement, a vessel carrying military cargo was targeted at the Port of Odesa. At the Port of Yuzhny, three fuel tanks, four military warehouses and infrastructure facilities used for military purposes were struck.
Two logistics centers near Odesa used to store weapons and ammunition were also among the targets, Russia said. The strikes involved precision-guided weapons and unmanned aerial vehicles.
Zelenskyy says the ports are not under blockade
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy assessed the attacks on his country’s Black Sea ports at a meeting of the Coalition of the Willing held via videoconference in Kyiv.
Zelenskyy said port infrastructure had been damaged but that Ukraine’s ports were not under a complete blockade. He said three or four ships entered or left Odesa every day.
At the meeting, attended by leaders from various countries who were in Kyiv to mark the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence, Zelenskyy said they wanted the next Coalition of the Willing meeting to be held in September.
Kyiv puts wartime spending at 140 billion euros
Zelenskyy said Ukraine’s annual spending in the Russia-Ukraine war was approximately 140 billion euros. He claimed that Russia’s annual spending was 340 billion euros.
Zelenskyy said they expected greater support from their allies and that Russia’s continuation of the war should have more severe consequences for Russian society. He said this should push Russian President Vladimir Putin toward negotiations.
Military and energy packages for Ukraine
In remarks after the meeting, Zelenskyy said Ukraine was being supported through military and energy packages. He said Ukraine was continuing attacks on targets in Russia using long-range weapons.
Zelenskyy said they could carry out more attacks if production capacity were increased, adding that the meeting had also addressed efforts to prevent attempts to blockade Ukraine’s ports.
Zelenskyy said the supply of missiles used by Patriot air defense systems was also on the meeting’s agenda.
