Russia’s Defense Ministry said it struck the Cosmonova data center in Kyiv, which it said “ensured the operation of mobile internet in the Ukrainian capital and supported Starlink satellite communication systems used in the interests of the Ukrainian armed forces.”
Cosmonova confirmed on September 26 that its data center was hit again after a morning strike and said all employees were safe. The facility had first been hit on September 25.
The strike damaged the company’s backbone network, causing internet outages for some clients and leaving some websites and online services unavailable. Kyiv internet provider Kolo.TB reported a third hit that morning and warned that restoring backup channels could take several hours.
Cosmonova is a data center hosting servers and network equipment for websites and internet providers. The Russian Defense Ministry also said it struck Kyiv’s Datagroup data center, which it claimed processed and transmitted intelligence for Ukraine’s armed forces.
