Russia opens hooliganism case after attack on young girl in Obninsk
After footage emerged showing an attack on a young girl in Obninsk, Kaluga Region, Russia’s Investigative Committee opened a criminal investigation on hooliganism charges. Police are also conducting a separate review, while investigators seek to establish the circumstances and motives of the incident and identify those who took part in the attack.
Footage showing a group of young people attacking a young girl in the city of Obninsk, Kaluga Region, has led to a criminal investigation.
The footage shows young people gathered outside a business in the city hitting the girl and attempting to put a trash bin over her head despite her objections.
Investigation opened on hooliganism charges
The regional branch of Russia’s Investigative Committee opened an investigation on hooliganism charges under Part 2 of Article 213 of the Russian Criminal Code.
Investigators are examining the circumstances and motives of the incident. They are also seeking to identify those who took part in the attack.
Police conducting separate review
Police in Kaluga Region also launched a separate review of the incident after the footage emerged.
The duty unit at the police station in Obninsk received no complaints or reports about the incident.
