Local authorities in Russia’s Belgorod region announced that three people were killed and nine injured in a drone attack said to be carried out by Ukraine. Three of the injured were in serious condition.
Russia’s Defense Ministry, meanwhile, claimed that a transfer terminal in the southern Ukrainian city of Mykolaiv was struck on August 29.
The ministry said the attack caused a temporary power outage in Mykolaiv and brought the public transport network to a halt. It also claimed that vessels used to supply fuel and lubricants, as well as unloading points, were targeted.
Claims about targets in Kyiv and Kalynivka
Russia claimed that fragments of Ukraine-produced Flamingo cruise missiles were found in logistics warehouses struck in Kyiv. It alleged that the missiles had been used in attacks against oil terminals and logistics centers in Russia.
Russia’s Defense Ministry also claimed that a facility in the town of Kalynivka responsible for managing deliveries of military equipment sent by Ukraine’s allies had been struck.
Moscow’s warning over British targets
On August 27, Russia warned that it could strike British military targets inside and outside Ukraine in response to its allegation that Ukraine had used British weapons against targets inside Russia.
Western countries’ arms deliveries to Kyiv had already been described by Russia as one of its red lines before the full-scale invasion in 2022. Moscow maintains that this boundary has been crossed repeatedly since February 2022.
