French President Emmanuel Macron announced on Wednesday, August 5, on the social media platform X that the European Union and its partners would strengthen sanctions and political pressure against Moscow and continue to increase military support for Ukraine.
Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova responded sharply to Macron's call. Zakharova argued that the French leader's words amounted to a direct order for the Kiev administration to carry out a 'terrorist attack'.

"By calling for increased pressure on Russia, Macron is openly ordering 'terrorist acts' against civilians," Zakharova said, adding, "France should know that its government is directly involved in terrorist activities against women and children."
The Russian representative's claims came shortly after Macron reiterated that Western support for Ukraine would continue.
