Russia's nuclear energy company Rosatom is preparing to increase the number of specialists working at the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant in Iran. Rosatom Director General Likhachev told reporters in Moscow that the return process had begun.
Likhachev said the first five members of the engineering and technical staff had reached the plant and started work. The number of Russian specialists working at the facility has thus risen to 25. Rosatom plans to increase this number to 100.
The return of evacuated personnel depends on a ceasefire agreement
The goal is to send all specialists previously evacuated from Iran to Bushehr as soon as possible. Restoring the staff to its previous level in full depends on the finalization of agreements between the United States and Iran on a ceasefire.
Construction continues on power units 2 and 3
Work continues on power units 2 and 3 at the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, which is being built with Russia's involvement. Construction of the main and auxiliary buildings for these units is also continuing.
Rosatom had evacuated plant workers from Iran in groups via Armenia because of military risks. Before the attacks by the United States and Israel on Iran, 639 Rosatom employees were working at the Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant.
