Kirill Dmitriyev, Russian President Vladimir Putin's special representative for international economic cooperation and head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund, commented on the resignation of UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
In a statement on his X platform account, Dmitriyev accused Starmer of pursuing wrong policies on migration, crime, energy, and the economy.
Dmitriyev, who said "He failed to protect Britain and was dragging Western civilization into ruin," also addressed German Chancellor Friedrich Mertens.
Dmitriyev said, "If he does not change his policies, Mertens will be next."
The Russian official also claimed that Britain needs a leader in the style of Winston Churchill to solve the problems caused by its seven prime ministers over the last decade.
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced his resignation from the Labour Party leadership and the premiership, but stated he would remain in office until a successor is chosen.
Starmer's resignation came after his party's losses in last May's local elections and increasing calls for his resignation amid the ongoing cost-of-living crisis.
US President Donald Trump also claimed a day earlier that Starmer had failed on migration and energy files, suggesting he would resign.
