Vladimir Putin called on citizens Wednesday, September 16, to vote in the parliamentary elections scheduled for September 18–20.
The Russian president said voters’ choices would determine which political forces are represented in the State Duma, regional parliaments and local governments. Putin urged citizens to exercise their constitutional rights and make a considered and responsible decision.
Emphasis on compliance with the law during voting
Putin said the election campaign was being conducted amid conflict and stressed that the vote must be held in accordance with the law and the previously established timetable.
Putin also announced that residents of Donbas and Novorossiya would participate in elections for State Duma deputies for the first time.
