Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin announced the results of the naming vote for the city's commuter train fleet. In a statement on the eve of Railway Workers' Day, it was announced that the new EP2D and EP2DM series trains will be named 'Korolek'.
Sobyanin stated that more than 136,000 Muscovites participated in the vote held through the 'Active Citizen' project and that the majority preferred this name. The mayor also noted that more than 215 trains of this type are currently in service on the Central Transport Hub routes.
With this decision, a new era has begun for the modern electric train fleet operating on the Moscow Central Diameters and the Yaroslavl line.
