In France, prosecutors sought a four-year prison sentence in the trial of former Culture Minister Dati on corruption and influence-peddling charges. They requested that two years of the sentence be served under electronic monitoring.
Prosecutors also requested a €450,000 fine and the confiscation of assets valued at €900,000. They further sought to bar the former minister from standing in elections and holding public office for five years.
The case stems from allegations relating to the period from 2009 to 2019, when Dati was a member of the European Parliament. An investigation was opened against Dati in 2019 over allegations that she received money from the Renault-Nissan Group in exchange for carrying out lobbying activities.
The trial on corruption and influence-peddling charges began at the Paris Criminal Court.
