An abnormal layer on the sea surface in Vladivostok, Russia's key Far Eastern port city, triggered an environmental alarm. The Amur Basin Environmental Prosecutor's Office announced it had launched an investigation due to a video circulating on social media that pointed to a possible oil spill.
The video, reportedly shot in the Egersheld area right next to the commercial port, shows a rainbow-colored layer stretching hundreds of meters along the coast. The person who shared the footage also claimed there was a strong smell of petroleum products in the area.
Prosecutor's office spokesperson Vera Grinchenko told RIA Novosti that the investigation is ongoing.
