Yevgeni Poddupnıy, a Duma deputy candidate from the United Russia party and war correspondent, stated that the memory of war correspondents who died in Russia's special military operation should be kept alive through memorial sites to be created in the regions. Poddupnıy emphasized that efforts in this direction will continue.
Poddupnıy noted that the creation of spaces dedicated to the memory of journalists who died at the start of the operation is continuing. The war correspondent recalled that a memorial road was opened in Kursk, where trees with name plaques were planted.
Poddupnıy said, "In Kursk, a war correspondents' memorial road was opened, where trees with name plaques were planted. This is a completely natural process. Sooner or later, I think this process will continue primarily with the initiative of regional leaders, because this is an organizational matter."
Poddupnıy added that it is necessary to keep alive the memory of the war correspondents who died, because this is part of Russian history and the "period in which they became heroes by fighting for the truth."
