Pakistan has completed the ratification procedure for the Mecca Agreement on Joint Defence with Türkiye and Saudi Arabia, Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokesman Sajjad Haider Khan said Friday at a weekly briefing in Islamabad.
He said Saudi Arabia had also completed ratification. Ratification and the agreement’s entry into force continue to be discussed by the trilateral strategic, political and defence committee, which last met on 5 October. Each country is following its own constitutional and legal procedures, the diplomat said.

Khan stressed that the agreement is defensive in nature and complies with the UN Charter. The document, he said, reflects the shared will of the three countries to strengthen collective defence, regional security and stability.
Türkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman signed the agreement in Mecca on 7 August. In Türkiye, the document has been submitted to parliament, where the Foreign Affairs Committee plans to consider it on Tuesday.
