It has been reported that girls who stayed at a children's home in Yessentuki, Russia, refrained from speaking out for years due to violence and abuse inflicted by an educator. According to allegations, the victims feared they would not be believed and could be accused of slander if there was insufficient evidence, as a long time had passed since the incidents.
One of the girls who graduated from the orphanage contacted a helpline on Tuesday. Following this, the Investigative Committee in the Stavropol region announced on Thursday that a 64-year-old man was suspected of acts of violence against several girls who stayed at the children's home in Yessentuki between 2012 and 2016, and that a criminal case had been opened against him.
According to the information provided, the decision of the victims to file a complaint was influenced by the discovery that the man had once again received pedagogical training and continued to work with children.
The suspect was detained, confessed to the crime during interrogation, and electronic devices were seized. It was stated that these devices contained recordings of his illegal actions.
