Russia's portfolio of US government bonds rose to $26 million in April, exceeding the $25 million recorded at the end of March.
According to data published by the US Treasury Department, $24 million of the portfolio consisted of long-term bonds, while $2 million were short-term securities. At the end of March, this distribution was recorded as $22 million in long-term and $3 million in short-term bonds.
The data shows that Russia's holdings in US public debt remain limited, with a slight shift in the portfolio composition. The amount of long-term bonds increased by $2 million in one month, while the short-term portion decreased by $1 million.
There was no change in the ranking of the top three countries holding US government bonds. Japan maintained its top position, increasing its bond holdings from $1.19 trillion to $1.2 trillion.
The United Kingdom, in second place, also increased its purchases compared to March. The country's bond stock rose from $926.9 billion to $937.5 billion.
China, ranked third, reduced its US bond holdings. China's portfolio decreased from $652.3 billion to $651.1 billion.
