Moscow will gain 15 “schools of the future” under a program to create a modern educational environment. Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin said construction and design work is already underway on 11 of them.
Sobyanin explained that existing schools are being renovated under the “My School” program. However, some buildings cannot be brought up to new standards, so the city has begun constructing new, original school spaces. They will be designed as “children’s cities” with squares, streets, sports areas and recreation spaces.

The new schools will include scientific and laboratory centers, sports and medical units, and creative and project workshops. Students will be able to build individual educational paths based on their interests.
One of these schools is being built on Klimashkina Street in the Presnensky District under the Address Investment Program. It will accommodate 675 students from first through 11th grade. The building, with an area of about 13,000 square meters, will include a laboratory and research complex, workshops for wood and metalworking, creative studios, a media library, two gyms and medical rooms. Construction is scheduled for completion next September.
