Google co-founder Sergey Brin, born in Moscow in 1973 and brought to the U.S. by his family at age six, was among the recipients of the National Medal of Science, the highest U.S. scientific honor, at an Oct. 8 ceremony at the U.S. Institute of Peace in Washington.

President Trump presented the awards himself for the first time. Musk, Jensen Huang and Lisa Su also received the science medal, while Satya Nadella and Michael Dell received the technology medal. Trump called Musk "our modern-day Thomas Edison."
Five of six are immigrants

Besides Brin, Musk was born in South Africa, Huang and Su in Taiwan, and Nadella in India. "I was an immigrant, and my parents brought us here to pursue the American dream," Huang said.
