Moldova summoned Russia’s Ambassador to Chișinău Oleg Ozerov to the Foreign Ministry after two of three unmanned aerial vehicles that entered its airspace crashed on Moldovan territory.
Moldova’s Defense Ministry said the country’s airspace was violated by three UAVs on October 1. The Foreign Ministry said two of the vehicles crashed and exploded.

Ozerov was summoned to the ministry as part of an official notification delivered to Russia’s diplomatic representative in Chișinău regarding the downed UAVs.

UAV wreckage had previously been found in Moldova as well. However, the relevant authorities have not uncovered evidence proving that the vehicles belonged to any of the parties to the conflict.
Oleg Ozerov had previously said that the UAVs entered Moldovan airspace from the direction of Ukraine.
The Moldovan Foreign Ministry handed the ambassador a note of protest. According to the ministry, the most serious incident occurred on Wednesday evening near Brănești in the Orhei district, where a turbojet-powered Geran-type drone hit trees and exploded next to a public road, scattering debris over some 120 meters. Road traffic was briefly halted and airspace over central Moldova was closed. The ministry said the country’s airspace had been violated eight times in the past seven days and called on Russia to stop its attacks on Ukraine immediately.
